Fleet Management
Effective corporate vehicle fleet management begins with proper structuring of the fleet itself. As each company’s needs vary, so too do their
fleets. Some fleet management options are:
- Leasing or purchasing vehicles
- Vehicle makes and models to enlist
- Employees’ ability to select colors, options, etc.
- Whether or not to reimburse for business use of personal vehicles in place of/or in addition to traditional fleet management
- Vehicle life cycle
- Rules and responsibilities of employees regarding use
- Whether or not to outsource administration, maintenance, and repair
These and other fleet management variables must be considered when establishing a corporate program. No single structure or set of fleet management policies will be advantageous for every organization, so careful evaluation and knowledgeable consulting can prove to be highly beneficial.
