Vehicle Insurance
Not everyone understands how vehicle insurance premiums are calculated. Some of the factors that determine vehicle insurance premiums include:
- The vehicle
itself; including repair costs and safety ratings
- Location, as accident and theft rates vary from place-to-place
- Policy limits; greater coverage commands greater premiums
- Individual driving record and credit score; the past often foreshadows the future
- State requirements, if any
- Gender; males tend to drive more and have proportionately higher accident involvement
- Age; premiums are greater for younger and less for older drivers
